We rescued Roxy at Easter of 2009. I believe she had been abandoned with her sister at the old Dogs Aid premises. Its not sure how long they had been there.
Roxy’s sibling was rehomed after a couple of weeks but Roxy remained with Maggie and the Gang from that August (?) to the April when she came home with us.
We had decided we wanted to rescue a dog and wanted a small dog because the garden is small. Maggie chose 3 dogs to pick from – a noisey Jack Russell; Roxy and a bouncy 6 month old lab cross called Libby. Roxy picked us by curling up on my lap and snuggling in, how could I say no to her!!!
Her first couple of days in Ashbourne were a bit fraught, she didn’t like being left alone, but some obedience classes (more for me than Roxy) in Finglas with Cathy McGuinness, daily walks, a squeeky duck and several long runs up and down Donabate beach helped her feel part of the family and she no longer pined for her 60 or so kennel mates back at Maggies.
Roxy is a happy, exceptionally quiet (she doesn’t bark at anything!) and contented soul who has brought great happiness and companionship to the household. She fits right in beacuse she loves lounging around like the rest of us do!!! She is completely adorable and loved by all who meet her. People often say how lucky she was to find a home with us, but the truth is we are the lucky ones for finding a dog like her!
