Scrappy
Name: Scrappy
Breed: Jack Russell
Age: 8 Years Old
About: Scrappy came to us under tough circumstances. When his beloved owner passed away, we were asked to mind him for two weeks…but when no one came back for him, he quietly became one of our forever dogs. It’s clear he had given his whole heart to one person, and the rest of the world never quite measured up.
These days, Scrappy prefers to keep to himself, stretched out by the heaters inside. From his warm spot, he keeps a watchful eye on the sanctuary, emerging if there’s drama outside. He then charges out with great purpose to shout at the few dogs he has decided he doesn’t like. Despite the tough exterior, Scrappy still has his soft spots. If you speak gently and let him choose the moment, he’ll trot over for a pet or a scratch behind the ears, enjoying the attention in his own understated way. It’s a privilege when he chooses you.
He may not be the most social dog in the sanctuary, and won’t be shy about using his teeth when overwhelmed. But he’s part of the Dogs Aid family now and will spend the rest of his days safe, understood, and allowed to just be himself.
